Summary: An exhibit the blends the MAC's clothing, photograph and ephemera collections with twelve one-of-kind collector cars to mapping American style through automobile and clothing design from the late 19th century to the 1980s and focusing on technology, economics, and regional history experience. Automobiles and clothing seem to identify Americans and represent our cultural values to the world. Few functional objects offer a more seductive embodiment of freedom of expression and choice than do the cars we drive and the clothes we wear. Historic images from the Joel E. Ferris Research Library and Archives special collections, a dozen unique automobiles, and sixty mannequins dressed in Inland Northwest clothing blend together to create a high speed journey through 100 years of America’s historical and cultural landscape. Prepare to be seduced in this exhilarating exhibition!
