Physical Description: Dress and matching coat. Dress (1a) is straight with dropped waistline; black satin bodice with rust color wool crepe skirt, collar, and sleeve cuffs; and embroidery and braid applique make up a Greek key pattern trim design. The coat (1b) is rust color wool crepe with black mink cuffs and collar and embroidery and braid applique trim in Greek key pattern design. The label in the coat reads: "The Crescent - Spokane"
Description: The Crescent department store sold this "flapper" style dress and matching coat in the 1920s. For generations, people from all over the region have come to Spokane to shop. Many met "under the clock" at The Crescent before it closed in 1988, just a year short of its centennial. This premier store had a reputation for quality service, innovative business practices, memorable Christmas window displays and delicious food.
