Physical Description: | Beige double-breasted duster made of loose-weave cotton with three pockets in the front and a half belt in the back, dog collar. The initials "EB" are written in ink on the inside of the collar. |
Description: | Drivers traveling dusty, muddy roads in primitive machines needed mechanical skills and protective clothing. Oil stains on this duster suggest that Edward Boyce, labor activist, editor, and president of the Western Federation of Miners from 1896-1902, experienced first-hand the challenges of driving early automobiles. |
