Summary: Hundreds of historic cultural objects, modern works by American Indian artists, and historic photographs fills two galleries in this long term exhibit that highlights the riches of the MAC's American Indian Collection.
Description: Lasting Heritage uses personal stories and human-made objects to articulate the spiritual and visceral links between ancient people, modern tribal people and their lands. Curator Miles Miller (Yakama Tribe) asks us to consider how the scale and unique environment of the Plateau and Great Basin regions shaped the lives and cultural traditions of American Indian people. This exhibition is based on his essay for Indian Nations of North America published in 2010 by National Geographic.
