Description: Michael Paul started painting when he was six. "I began by painting a mural on my bedroom wall. My mother didn't mind that so much until I started on her bedroom." Paul told the Spokane Daily Chronicle in 1969. He loved to travel to Indian celebrations across the country and this activity led him to take a serious concern for Indian culture and to accurately portray people and cultural practices.
