Biography/History: | Caroline Louise Mackenzie was born June 7, 1876 in Nebraska to parents (born Nova Scotia, Canada) who had emigrated around 1871 (naturalized 1891). Caroline married David A. McKinnon 29 Dec 1902 in Spokane, but by 1910, she was widowed and living in Greenacres, Spokane Valley, with their 6 yr. old daughter Anabel. In 1920, she and Anabel were living with her widowed mother Annabel MacKenzie. By 1930, Caroline and Anabel (now a commercial artist) were living at West First Ave, Spokane with her widowed brother C. MacKenzie (stock buyer) and his daughter (librarian). Caroline and her sister Ella were living together at 2306 W Pacific Apt. C when Caroline appeared as a survivor in Ella's 1969 obit. Caroline was still living there when she donated the quilt to the Museum in 1973, but her death date is unknown. |
