| Summary: | People are makers. This exhibition uses MAC collection items to inspire our visitors to engage in an exhibition experience through making. The exhibition, a family makerspace, facilitates the love of making and provides a new access point to our collections. This is an annual exhibition - featuring unique themes each year. This summer the exhibition will delve into the makers’ relationship with nature, pulling from all parts of the MAC collection to inspire an immersive and family-friendly experience. Discover how the landscape inspires art-making through the artwork and relationship of Northwest artists Wesley Wehr and Joseph Goldberg. Explore the natural motifs, tradition, and importance of beaded bags in the plateau cultures. Investigate the use of natural materials in millinery and its many different forms. Learn the story of a blacksmith who flew the first plane in the Inland Northwest, illustrating our obsession with flight over the ages. Meet a maker and develop your making process and skills. The exhibition is unique and innovative in that it provides facilitated learning in an exhibition context, utilizing a “Maker-In-Residence” to facilitate the visitor’s maker experience, pulling from all disciplines in the collection and using the Visual Thinking Strategies methodology to engage visitors in an interactive experience. |
