Description: Helen Campbell's custom-made "dance frock" by Eugenie Gowns of New York City telegraphs her family's social status while hinting at the looser styles of her freer generation. Coming of age during the early 20th century, Helen lived on the cusp of social and technological liberations like voting and driving, which transformed women's lives.
