Physical Description: Short-waisted top or jacket with long, capped sleeves and peplum panels is constructed of red wool fabric and embellished with gold braid trim and gold metal buttons. Front panel is a deep red silk backed with red glazed cotton. Silk is badly shattered. There are remnants of hook and eye closure to the proper left side of the front panel. Jacket is one of two jackets associated with the Scott Sisters Quartet costuming. Double sided ribbon/lapel pin that says "Royal Highlander Quartette" was pinned to the chest of this jacket.
Description: Four sisters, born in Scotland and Ontario, Canada, arrived in the Inland Northwest by the early 1880s and performed in Scottish costume throughout the Northwest and British Columbia as the "Dudley Buck Quartette, the "Singing Scott Sisters," and possibly the "Royal Highlander Quartette." The young women were especially proud to sing at the 1896 St. Louis World's Fair.
