| Biography/History: | Sarah (Sadie) Elizabeth Garoutte was born in 1876 in Goodman, Missouri near Carthage. She married Aaron Burton (Burt) Greenlee, a farmer, at the age of sixteen. She gave birth to six children, four of whom lived to maturity. The family moved between Missouri and Texas before settling on a farm northeast of Spangle, Washington in 1918. The two children still at home in 1918 attended Spangle High School and Cheney Normal. At some point Sarah moved to Spokane and established a boarding house for young working girls. She died in 1956 and is buried with her husband Burt at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane. |
