| Biography/History: | "Kate" (Catherine Sandow Barrows) was born Nov. 12, 1835 in NY and died May 17, 1917 in Spokane, Washington. On Jan. 5, 1854 in Greenfield NY, she married Elihu Byron Gifford (born 1830, NY; died Mar.1, 1898 Spokane). They moved with their three children Charles (1862-1944), Kate (Catherine), and Chester (1869-1942) from New York to Mondovi, Wisconsin, and in 1877 they crossed the plains in a covered wagon to Latah, Washington where they farmed for many years.
