Dudley Buck Quartet (Singing Scott Sisters)

Name: Dudley Buck Quartet (Singing Scott Sisters)
Dates:
1900 - 1915 (Life/Active Dates)
Biography/History: The “Dudley Buck Quartet” also known as the “Singing Scott Sisters” was comprised of four Scottish sisters, two born in Scotland and two born in Canada, who came to Spokane with their family in the 1880s. According to family lore, they sang Scottish songs all over the Northwest and British Columbia, and were most proud to have sung at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. Not a great deal of information is yet compiled regarding their travels and music. But since one sister died in 1915, the group’s active musical period was likely ca. 1900-1915. Parents George, a teacher, and Martha raised three sons as well as the four Singing Scott Sisters: Alice Ruddiman Scott, b. 20 Jan 1865, Scotland. Died 1950, Spokane, WA Denham (or Denholm) Brash Scott, b. 18 Apr 1867, Scotland. Died 19 Mar 1956, Spokane, WA. Buried Greenwood Cemetery. Margaret S. Scott, b. 25 Aug 1880, London, Ontario, Canada.
