| Biography/History: | Elmer Eugene Alexander was an early Spokane County resident. He and his wife Bertie Elzira (Lewis) married February 22, 1888 and homesteaded in the Spokane Valley on the Spokane River; a portion of the land they homesteaded became Felts Field and was deeded to the city in 1919. Alexander was a prospector, and discovered the Old Dominion Mine in Stevens County, as well as other claims in the area of Valley. His daughter Vesta's S/R obituary also lists Alexander as an orchardist. Elmer and Bertie had 1 son and 7 daughters according to Alexander's obituary in the Spokesman Review. |
