| Biography/History: | Leo Adams (Yakama) was born in 1942 in Toppinish, Washington, and currently resides and works near Yakima, Washington. Adams grew up on the Yakama Indian Reservation. After graduating from Wapato High School, Adams studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and the Seattle Art Institute. Adams has been working as a professional artist since the mid-1960’s and his home on Ahtanum Ridge is a hub of activity for many Yakima artists and art groups. His paintings are full of texture, using earth tones of browns, ochre, greys and sandy creams to depict the vegetation and rock formations near his home. His artwork is displayed nationally. |
