Physical Description: Thirty-five nine patch blocks in a blue print and solid white fabric alternate with solid white blocks in this small quilt. Both the inner border and outer border are made of alternating blue and white diamonds. It is bound with a blue print.
Description: Mary Jane Wirt was born in 1851 and may have made this quilt when she was a child in Illinois. As a young woman, she moved to California and, later, homesteaded with her husband, John Freter, on Moran Prairie, Washington. This quilt was found among her son's belongings.
