Physical Description: | A landscape with angular hills and a central planar area in which a bound book rests. It is framed in an artist's frame painted to compliment the painting. The painting is covered with glass glazing. |
Description: | Robert Helm combines representation, romanticism and the use of classical compositional and formal devices for decidedly non-classical ends. While his eerie iconography has been compared to that of the famous Surrealist Rene Magritte, Helm strongly resists the Surrealist label. Rather, he prefers to describe his work as "metaphysical explorations of reality." Helm resides in Pullman, Washington where he received a Master of Fine Art degree from Washington State University. He exhibits primarily in Los Angeles, New York, and Berlin. |
