Physical Description: | Ceramic sculpture. Thin ceramic standing robe-shaped figure. Interior is a dull dusty purple colored fading from dark at the base to light near the top. Exterior is dull tan overall with faint stripes of darker tans, black dots arranged in stripes, a dusty purple front part and abstracted decorations of black, white, dusty purple and tans covering the 'arms' and front body of the robe. Object is directly labeled with the MAC accession number on the interior base: black ink printed on white archival paper attached with Rhoplex base and top coats. |
Description: | Excerpt from Safeco object label: "Ford is a ceramic sculptor whose exquisitely detailed kimonos have a lyrical rhythm which makes them seem to dance. Although she says, 'Clay is a sometime thing - to be overconfident is to court disaster,' she has little need for concern. Her skill with thin sheets of earthenware allows her imagination to flow without restraint." |
