Physical Description: | The central design of this quilt is a tree with a brown embroidered trunk and branches and hand-appliqued leaves. A brown embroidered vine with appliqued leaves is on all four sides of the border. The leaves are made from a variety of print fabrics. The background is white. The edge is scalloped. The bias binding is made form a green print. |
Description: | Master embroiderer Beth Riley purchased this quilt kit from Spokane's Crescent Department Store in the 1960s, and later completed the applique and embroidery by hand. She sent the finished top to her mother's church, Bethlehem Lutheran, in Beatrice, Nebraska, where church members completed the quilting as a means of raising money for missions. |
