Description: Family history states that Alice Virginia Cross (1857-1931) pieced this quilt in 1875, likely in Missouri. Alice later moved to Washington, apparently bringing the unfinished top with her. She married Millard Fillmore Belknap (1852-1926) in 1892, and the couple farmed in the Colville area. Alice's sister-in-law, Ruth Elizabeth Clizer Cross (1879-1953), added the white bands and quilted the piece in the 1930s.
