Description: | Spokane graphic designer Lloyd Carlson won the Expo '74 logo contest, inspired by a Mobius strip idea in a Time-Life book on math. The Expo '74 Committee hired Carlson's firm Devine Miller Carlson and Donaldson to create graphic standards and such materials as press kit folders and Expo Club menus. The logo appeared on countless souvenirs, including this tie from Spokane innovator Luke Williams. For Carlson, the Expo project was a career culmination. Eventually, the recycling movement also adopted a Mobius strip-type logo. |
