Object Type: | Quilt |
Participants: | |
Physical Description: | Twelve 20" blocks and a border of "half-roses" make up this quilt. Each "rose" is made of a pink print fabric with smaller elements of solid pink. The leaves are green. The "roses" and leaves are appliquéd to a white background. The blocks are separated from the border by a 4" inner band. The border is 9 1/2". The edge is attached by machine and finished by hand. This is hand quilted with four to nine stitches to the inch. The back is off white cotton. |
Description: | More than thirty quilters from Washington, Oregon and Idaho participated in an outdoor quilting bee during Spokane's Expo '74. With the help of visitors, they completed this quilt and five others during the six-month run of this 1974 fair. This quilt's appliquéd flowers and leaves pay tribute to mid-nineteenth-century quilting traditions. |
