Egyptian-style Necklace - Necklace
Accession #: 4166.1F
Title: Egyptian-style Necklace
Object Type: Necklace
Participants:
Physical Description: An 16 inch necklace with two, 5 inch dangles and one, 8 inch dangle. Each dangle has one enamel bead with several colored stones and at the end a double-sided flower with three colored stones and four pearls on each end, the center of the 18 inch part has a single-sided flower.
Description: The Campbell family traveled to Egypt in 1903 and probably brought back these costumes as souvenirs. A photograph taken several years later captured Helen Campbell and her cousin Hazel Lease wearing the clothing (and smoking?) in front of the carriage house. Amazingly, the Campbell-Powell family kept the costumes intact until donating them to the Museum in 2007.
