Physical Description: Two identical campaign pin-back buttons, both are round, white with purple and green lettering which reads: "I'm for Dixy Demo." There is a small union shop seal in purple printed beneath the lettering. One is designated "a." and one "b."
Description: Dr. Dixy Lee Ray became Washington State's first woman governor in 1976. Previously, Ray was a marine biologist and President Nixon's appointee to the Atomic Energy Commission. Ray championed nuclear energy for its unlimited supply, but dismissed any public or environmental risk. Support for her declined after she approved of oil tankers docking in Puget Sound, abolished the state's Women's Commission, and in general, pressed for unrestrained growth and development.
