| Biography/History: | August Paulsen was born in Denmark in 1871. He came to the United States in 1888, and to Spokane in 1892. In 1896 Paulsen invested $850 in the Hercules Mine near Wallace, ID. When a rich silver vein was struck in 1901, Paulsen and his partners became millionaires. Paulsen moved to Spokane in 1908 and invested heavily in commercial real estate. |
