| Biography/History: | Martha Bell was born in Wayne County, Indiana in 1818 to John Bell (1768-1839) and Lydia Symons (1780-1843). Her parents were originally from North Carolina; they were a Quaker family. In 1845, Martha married a farmer, Thomas E. Henley, of Henry County, Indiana (1824-1884). The Henleys had two children, Sarah (1847-1864) and Isaac (1849-1915). Martha Bell Henley died on 25 January 1884 and Thomas followed on 12 November 1884. Both are buried in the Hopewell Friends Cemetery in Henry County, Indiana. |
