Physical Description: Traditional blue wool Navy seaman's jumper or tunic, trousers and cap. Jumper has white striping - 3 stripes - at cuffs and along collar edges and button closures at cuffs. There is a slit pocket at proper left chest and a patch with a yellow embroidered eagle inside a circle sewn onto the proper right chest. A patch with an embroidered eagle, a pair of crossed flags, and a red chevron sewn onto the upper portion of the proper right sleeve. Seaman's trousers have 2 slit pockets at the top front, one with zipper closure. Trousers close with 2 buttons, which are then covered with a flap that closes with 13 black navy buttons. Fit is adjustable with lacing at top center of back of trousers. This pair has a 2.5" hem Blue wool sailor's cap has a ribbon hatband which forms a bow to one side. "U. S. Navy" is printed in gold on the ribbon hatband.
Description: A 1944 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, Spokane resident Henry Odean enlisted in the US Navy after high school, serving for two years as a Signalman 3rd Class in the South Pacific.
