Physical Description: Two-piece dress with skirt and jacket crocheted of fine mercerized cotton. Waist of skirt is gathered with cording. Fitted jacket has nine buttons down the center.
Description: Josephine Crouch crocheted a unique interpretation of a late Victorian-style shirt-waist and skirt. She was 38 when she married William Sweet, a Freeman, Washington farmer, in 1895. Soon after their marriage they traveled to the East coast where her husband conducted political business. Josephine made the dress to wear to social gatherings there.
