Physical Description: Mabel Welch Wilson wedding dress is constructed of layers of fine ivory tulle net with ivory embroidery, silver sequins-like beads, and "pearl" seed beads. The neckline is square in the front and "v" in the back and there is a sewn on pearl seed bead belt around the waist. Much of the decoration is in the bodice and towards the bottom of layers. Dress has an underskirt of silk.
Description: Mabel Beatrice Welch married Frederick Wilson in September 1908. Her wedding dress illustrates the looser styles of the early 20th century. Young women during this era lived on the cusp of social and technological liberations like voting and driving, which transformed women's lives.
