Physical Description: This doublecloth coverlet is navy dominant on one side and red dominant on the other side. The border is a pine tree motif. It was made in two 35 inch sections and is seamed at the center. There are remnants of an attached short fringe on sides. The top and bottom edges are raw with significant loss.
Description: This wool doublecloth coverlet was possibly handwoven in Scotland. William Landsborough (1777-1854) emigrated to Ontario in 1834, along with his wife, Jane Grieve Landsborough (1786-1873), and their nine children. Family history states that they brought the coverlet with them. Their great-granddaughter Mary Belle Clark Schock (1895-1970) brought it to Spokane.
