Physical Description: Deep blue/black background with fans of various colors. Set in an inverse pattern so that an overall dark path, like a drunkards path, is found. Feather stitched with a multitude of embroidered flowers. Backing is coarse, made of ticking and trouser material.
Description: Fans were a very popular motif during the last quarter of the nineteenth century, but this piece lacks much documentation. A few squares are signed, suggesting that it was made by a group of individuals, possibly as a gift for someone.
