Physical Description: Boy's dress of royal blue velvet; the dress has a plain round neckline, a yoke front and back with gathers to low waist, a pleated skirt, faded blue satin ribbon sash with bow, and straight sleeves with long cuffs. The dress is lined with turquoise and tan cotton and silk twill.
Description: This blue velvet dress was worn c1888 by Spokane resident Benjamin Burr. When Mr. Burr's daughter donated her father's special occasion dress to the museum in 1965, she reported that her grandmother made the outfit for her yound son. The family lived in Wisconsin; Benjamin Burr moved west in 1905, settling in Spokane where he pursued a 48 year career as an engineer with Great Northern Railway
