Physical Description: This quilt is made of 72 pieced blocks containing lime green fabric. The pieced blocks alternate with plain blocks made of a brown floral print on a white background. There is green cotton binding around all edges of the quilt. The quilt is stitched throughout with white cotton thread. One side of the quilt is covered in white muslin fabric, which is attached with white yarn.
Description: Ida Emma Miller Andre (1857-1932) was born in Michigan. According to family history, she made this quilt soon after her marriage to John A. Andre, a farmer, in 1878. John and Ida, along with their six children, moved to Spokane in 1903. This Basket pattern was known as "Cake Stand" in the late 1890s, so perhaps that is what Ida called it.
