| Biography/History: | In 1895, when she married William Riley Sweet (c.1862-1929), Josephine Crouch was about age 37 and living in the Spokane area. She had been born and raised in Iowa, “Riley’s” family had left Kansas by 1880 to farm in Spangle, Washington. Together, Riley and Josephine operated a Freeman, Washington. Sadly, their only child, Roddy, died at age eight in 1904. Riley died in 1929, and Josephine in 1943. |
