Biography/History: | William Sumner, London flatware maker, was apprenticed under Thomas Chawner. He worked in partnership with Richard Crossley from 1775 to 1782 at Clerkenwell Close, London, using the mark WS/RC entered in 1775. Sumner entered his first mark on his own in 1782. His widow Mary and daughter Elizabeth were also registered as silver spoon makers. |
