| Biography/History: | Roger Shimomura was born in Seattle in 1939 and spent two early years of his childhood in Minidoka (Idaho), one of 10 concentration camps for Japanese Americans during WWII. He is a third-generation Japanese-American. He holds a BA from the University of Washington and an MFA from Syracuse University. Since 1969, he has been a professor of Fine Art at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he holds the title of Distinguished Professor. |
