Biography/History: | Wendy Franklund Miller was born in North Dakota in 1943. She was raised in Yakima, Washington. From 1962-1986 she studied art at Museum Art School in Portland, Oregon; Oregon State University; Kirkland Creative Arts League; Walla Walla Community College; Spokane Falls Community College; Gonzaga University; and Banff Centre in Alberta Canada. "As a long-time Northwest artist I have explored image-making using artist-made paper, encaustic painting and now ink drawings. My subject matter has grown but is mostly focused on discarded objects with all their implications for our civilization. For me, art is a delicate balance of pushing ahead into the unknown, then dropping back to look, learn, listen, and see. It is a balance of knowing and not knowing and trusting that." |
