Biography/History: | Mel McCuddin was born in 1933, in Spokane, Washington, where he lives and works today. He attended North Central High School, where he considered becoming an artist, but admits that his early notions were not realistic. He rediscovered art after he married his wife Gloria. Almost by accident he picked up the paintbrush, with the intention of finding something to do. As he became serious about art, he kept his job working as a truck driver for the Early Dawn Dairy for most of his working life and painted at night. He is known thought the Northwest for his expressionist figure paintings that relate to all aspects of the human experience. "I see in my paintings, a balance between pictorial representation, presence, and content. By the use of a personal imagery that has developed over the past twenty years, I strive to communicate, not only by traditional means, but on a subliminal level as well." |
