Biography/History: | Carolyn Krieg was born in 1953 in Vancouver, Washington and now lives in Seattle. She has been awarded twenty-six one-person exhibitions since 1989, including Greg Kucera Gallery, Seattle; Seattle Art Museum; Sandy Carson Gallery, Denver; and the Holter Museum of Art, Helena, Montana. She studied at the University of Washington, Marylhurst College, University of California and American College in Paris. To create her unique style, Krieg combines straight photography and computer manipulation through several generations. While her subjects are often relics she finds on trips to ancient lands, her messages are universal: "I am interested in the psyche and the sacred, masks and archetypes, myth and sprirt, beauty and specter. The pieces are about the nether world, about understanding the subliminal, about carying fragments of memory into the present."
