Biography/History: A prominent early 20th century Washington State artist, Julian Edward Itter was born in Rossland, British Columbia, Canada and died in Laguna Beach, California. He moved to Washington State in 1898 and lived there until 1912. His Washington residences included Seattle and occasionally eastern Washington State around Spokane (Ferry County in the 1900 US Census) where he appears to have received most of his press mentions. His most well-known works depict areas near Lake Chelan and along the Milwaukee Railroad line which contracted Itter, in 1911, to paint images of scenery to be used in its advertising.
