Biography/History: | Walter Hook, painter and printmaker in the post-war surrealist style, was born in Missoula, Montana in 1919. He received his M.F.A. from the University of New Mexico in 1950. He then went on to become chair of the Art Department at the University of Montana. Walter Hook received some 90 awards from juried exhibitions and had over 80 one man shows. In 1972 he was elected an Associate of the National Academy of Design, the nation's oldest artist's honorary organization. He died in 1989. |
