| Biography/History: | Pauline Haas was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1922, daughter of Harry and Pauline (Wilson) Anderson. She grew up in Indianapolis and attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati on scholarship before earning her BA and MFA at Indiana University. She met her husband Garland (Gus) Haas at the University of Indiana; they married Nov. 17, 1944 in Bloomington, Indiana and served as teaching missionaries in Pakistan for three years. Pauline was a Professor of Art at Whitworth College from 1962 to 1986 (Obit says 1961-1985), served as chairperson of the art department, and was Art Professor Emeritus in 2011 when this bio was first compiled. She also taught Art at Spokane Community College and on numerous study abroad programs. Pauline passed away August 14, 2015 in Spokane. |
