Biography/History: Ric Gendron (Arrow Lake Colville) was born on the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Northeastern Washington and grew up in Coulee Dam and Spokane. Gendron works primarily as a painter with acrylic paint on canvas and mixed media on paper. "Ric's work is filled with splashes of exciting color, and he uses the pop-culture iconography of contemporary America mixed with the symbols from his American Indian heritage," says Scott Kolbo, Whitworth assistant professor of art and director of the Koehler Gallery. "His images express the tension of living in contemporary America and being engaged in an ancient culture."
