Biography/History: Mary Elizabeth Dwight was a Spokane artist, poet, and author. Her father, Daniel Dwight, owned part of the Finch Arboretum when it was called "Brookside." She received training at Washington State University and Chicago Academy of Fine Art. She used mixed media, -- pencil, ink, pastel, tempera and water color-- in her work. She was a member of the Spokane Art Association, Composers, Authors, and Artists of America, Kappa Tau Literary Sorority, Kellogg Travel Club, Explorers' Club, American Pen Women, Poets of the Pacific, English Speaking Union, Spokane Federation of Women's Clubs, Washington Art Assocation, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Culture Literary Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cheney Cowles Memorial Museum. The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture holds artworks by Mary Dwight and historic and American Indian cultural materials donated to the collections by Mary Dwight.
