Biography/History: | Jack Dollhausen was born in Niagra Falls, NY in 1941, receiving his B.A. in Fine Arts and Mathematics in 1966 from Wisconsin State University and his M.F.A. in 1968 from Washington State University. It was during his time at WSU that he began introducing electronic elements and flashing lights into his work, melding art and technology and incorporating time and perpetual motion. In 1972, he began teaching at the University of Washington and creating the kinetic sculptural form that would become his trademark. The artist's work has appeared in numerous one person and group exhibitions, including Boulder Center for the Visual Arts, Colorado, Montana State University, Bozeman, and the Redmann Gallery, Berlin, West Germany. |
