Biography/History: OBITUARY: DEFELICE, Arthur Guido Sr. (Age 94) Arthur Guido DeFelice Sr. was born in Spokane on May 24, 1922 to Vincent and Caroline DeFelice, who emigrated here from Italy. He passed away peacefully on March 14th, having moved from the family home in Spokane Valley a few weeks prior to his death. "Art" graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1940, worked for the family macaroni factory (U.S. Macaroni) and then joined the Army in 1942. He served with his brother Albert, in Communications. They were stationed mainly in Guam. At the end of the war Art and his brothers, Fileno, Joseph and Albert bought U.S. Macaroni from their father and ran the business until they sold it in 1989 and retired. Art married Gilda Loretta Julian on May 17, 1947, and soon would have celebrated 70 years of marriage. Art was a life-long learner interested and knowledgeable about many subjects. He was welcoming to others, easy to talk to and a lover of Italian culture. Art was preceded in death by his siblings Fileno, Guido, William, Joseph, Albert, Carmella Naccarato and Elvira Pascuzzi; and son, James DeFelice. Art is survived by his wife Gilda; sons Arthur (Diana) DeFelice and David DeFelice (Katy Cordrey); daughter, Nancy (Michael) Dempsey; grandchildren Gavin, Christi and Lauren DeFelice; and great-granddaughter, Kendall Belles. The family wants to extend their appreciation to Ester Zerbst and Christy Clements for the care that they provided to Dad (and Mom) over the last few years in the comfort of their home until late February. Per his request no formal service will be held. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
