By 1920, the family had moved to Rigby, Jefferson County, Idaho, where Ivan’s father was a farmer. Ivan Brady enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1924 and served until February 1926. As of his release from service he was a private in Co. “L,” and had been stationed at the Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii. The 1940 census has Ivan was living with his mother in Rigby and lists his occupation as carpenter. In February of 1942, Ivan registered for the World War II draft. He ultimately enlisted as a private in the Army and was assigned to the Warrant Officers. His uniform indicates he served as a guard, although the location of his assignment is unknown. Ivan was released from duty in March of 1943.
