Summary: | Join us as we welcome two recently-acquired ceramic artworks by Patti Warashina. Created in two different eras of Warashina’s career, these pieces strengthen our collection of artwork by this Spokane-born artist. With shocking, yet entertaining works, Patti Warashina is recognized nationally for her significant contributions to the development of ceramic sculpture and her work to redefine the boundaries of sculpture in this art form. Her art is informed by her roles as a woman artist and a working mother, as well as her wry sense of humor. Her energy and professional example inspired many students during her 30 years of teaching at the University of Washington’s School of Art. She continues to work in clay and was awarded the Smithsonian Visionary Artist Award in 2020. |
