Title: | Woven Coverlet or Blanket |
Object Type: | Coverlet |
Participants: | |
Physical Description: | This woven coverlet/blanket is made of two different colors of blue and an off-white or ecru thread. The twill weave creates a wide plaid with a wavy line variation within the thick lines of the plaid. The two panels, each 35" wide, are hand-sewn together along the long edge to create a center seam, though stitches have failed half way down the seam. There appears to have been fringe at one edge only; the fringe is uneven. This piece is in poor condition. |
Description: | It is possible to clearly see how this piece was constructed because part of its center seam has come undone. The unknown weaver of this piece combined two different shades of blue wool with off-white cotton to form one long rectangle. The piece was then taken off the loom and cut in half. The two halves were sewn together by hand. |
