A = "Kanga," brown and white cloth kangaroo with long tail and front pocket across belly. Animal has black button eyes, a red cloth cord around its neck and many old repairs.
Description: English author A.A. Milne captured public imagination with his 1920s Winnie-the-Pooh books and characters based on his son Christopher Robin's stuffed animal toys - many from Harrods department store in London. Antoinette "Ankey" Larrabee of Oxford, England soon acquired similar stuffed toys of these beloved characters, and had her picture taken with Kanga. Ankey's father later married Consuelo McMillan of Oregon and moved the family to Spokane - along with the well-worn and much-loved toys: Winnie-the-Pooh, Kanga, Piglet and Eeyore. Sometimes curators waive the "good condition" requirement when it comes to acquiring a well-loved toy. Kanga has seen many old repairs, and its head is loose on its body, possibly because its hay-like stuffing has compacted over time.
