Physical Description: | This hand pieced and hand quilted quilt is made of blocks of "trees" that alternate with solid cream-colored blocks. Each "tree" has 54 small triangles plus some larger ones. Most of the triangles are red, but some are faded. There are two borders; two may have been green but have faded to tan. There are feathered wreaths quilted in the alternate blocks. The white binding was brought to the front from the back and sewn with a machine on the front. |
Description: | Although many of the fabrics in this quilt have faded, others are still bright. The quilt is attributed to an unknown relative of Charles, Theodore, and Winfield Rogers, brothers who were born in Hastings, Michigan and came to Spokane during the late nineteenth century. Charles' son, Russell R. Rogers, and his family treasured the quilt through the twentieth century. |
